Post infectious granuloma masquerading intradural extramedullary spinal tumor

چکیده
Background: There are several non-neoplastic lesions which mimic intradural extramedullary spinal cord neoplasm in their radiographic and clinical presentation. Intradural granulomas that form within the dura mater, is outermost protective layer surrounding cord. Variety of infections, such as Tuberculosis or Fungal infections (histoplasmosis coccidioidomycosis), inflammatory conditions, sarcoidosis, can cause to mater. Case description: The authors report a very rare case non-specific lesion unknown origin, with no signs infection at present. However, patient had history fever backache 3 months back for he was treated periphery. He has recovered from but gradually worsened. Conclusions: tumor be various difficult interpret. Preoperative MRI does not allow certain diagnosis because these have similar signal intensity pattern. Specific tests infective pathologies useful diagnosis, histological examination essential establishing diagnosis.

Intradural extramedullary spinal hydatidosis: case report.
The parasitic tapeworm Echinococcus granulosis causes hydatid disease, which is rarely encountered in nonendemic regions. It is a progressive disease with serious morbidity risks. Rarely, these cysts are found in the spine. They are mainly found epidurally, originating from direct extension from pulmonary, abdominal or pelvic infestation. Nevertheless, the main mechanism for intradural involvem...
متن کاملIntradural Disc Herniation at L5-S1 Mimicking an Intradural Extramedullary Spinal Tumor: A Case Report
Intradural lumbar disc herniation is a rare pathological entity. The pathogenesis of intradural lumbar disc herniation is not known clearly. Intradural disc herniations usually occurred at the L4-L5 levels but have also been reported at other levels. However, intradural disc herniation at L5-S1 is quite rare. There are approximately nine reports in the English literature of intraradicular disc ...
متن کاملIntradural Migration of a Sequestrated Lumbar Disc Fragment Masquerading as a Spinal Intradural Tumor
Intervertebral intradural lumbar disc herniation (ILDH) is a quite rare pathology, and isolated intradural lumbar disc herniation is even more rare. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may not be able to reveal ILDHs, especially if MRI findings show an intact lumbar disc annulus and posterior longitudinal ligament. Here, we present an exceedingly rare case of an isolated IDLH that we initially mis...
متن کاملHuge Sequestered Spinal Disc Mimicking Spinal Intradural Tumor
Background and Importance: Disk sequestration can be defined as a herniated disk with perforation of the fibrous ring (or outermost annulus fibrosus) and posterior longitudinal ligament with migration of the disk fragment to the epidural space. Even after the introduction of high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), it is still frequently misinterpreted as neoplastic masses. U...
متن کاملThe Surgical Treatment for Spinal Intradural Extramedullary Tumors
BACKGROUND We wanted to investigate the results of surgical treatment and analyze the factors that have an influence on the neurologic symptoms and prognosis of spinal intradural extramedullary (IDEM) tumors. METHODS The spinal IDEM tumor patients (11 cases) who had been treated by surgical excision and who were followed up more than 1 year were retrospectively analyzed. Pain was evaluated by...
